How many hours will it take?

The number of hours or lessons you need will depend on your motivation and aptitude for driving, whether you have had any relevant past experience, and whether or not you can have any supplementary practice between lessons with a relative or friend.

Therefore, these courses are only a guide to what hours you might need based on the circumstances outlined. It is NOT a guarantee that you will be ready for the test; this will depend on your individual progress and it may be necessary to purchase additional hours.

Costs for all courses and lessons can be found here. Please contact me for any special offers or promotions that may be running.

An assessment lesson can be provided to help you select the best option for you. Please contact me here or call me on 07758 211877 or 01277 363371

One Week Pass Course

The One Week Pass Course usually starts on Sunday or Monday and finishes on Friday. It is ideal for those who are in a hurry, who could not otherwise find the time.

The driving test would usually be organised to take place at the end of the week or during the following week depending on your personal preference.

If you want a test at the end of the course you would need to plan ahead and book the course & pass the theory test well in advance of the required start date (i.e. at least one month in advance).

However, occasionally short notice driving tests (cancellations) can be arranged.

The in-car training provided is 30 hours on a one to one basis. (This includes 2 hours for attending the driving test).

Semi-intensive Pass Course

The Semi-intensive Pass Course is identical in content to the One Week Pass Course above (i.e. 30 hours etc) except the training is spread over two or more weeks to suit your busier schedule.

This is the most popular and successful form of intensive training. It is designed for people who want to pass the test quickly but at a more comfortable pace.

Midway Pass Course

For those who already have the basic control skills of driving we have the Midway Pass Course. An assessment drive is provided to ensure that this course is suitable for your requirements.

The in-car training provided is 20 hours on a one to one basis. (This includes 2 hours for attending the driving test).

Test Booster Course

For those who are nearing test standard and who just need a short burst of lessons prior to the test we have the Test Booster Course.

It is also ideal for those who have had an attempt at the test some time ago but have not had any lessons since. The in-car training is 15 hours on a one to one basis. (This includes 2 hours for attending the driving test).

Weekly Lessons

The traditional way to learn. Learning can be spread over several weeks and lessons can be booked individually or in a block at a discount.

If you are looking to have weekly lessons, I recommend that you book 2-hourly sessions. Booking a 2 hour lesson will save you money and speed up your progress. They are far more productive because of the continuous unbroken time behind the wheel.

PASS PLUS

This is a training program for newly qualified drivers. It's much more than just a few extra lessons. It is a specially designed course by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA). Bear in mind that it will take a minimum of six hours, all of which are taken after passing your test. If more sessions are needed for you to successfully complete the course, this may add to the cost. The benefits to you include -

  • gain valuable driving experience safely you will be taught how to deal with a wide range of road and traffic situations, many of which you may not have faced before.

  • build on your existing skills and knowledge. It can take years to become a skilled driver. PASS PLUS helps get you there by speeding up the learning process under expert tuition.

  • reduce your risk of being in a road crash the course will help boost your awareness of all kinds of hazards and help you learn how to anticipate, plan for and deal with them safely.

  • save money on car insurance premiums. When you have successfully completed the course, you are advised to check available discounts offered by the insurance companies taking part in the scheme. The amount you save will depend on the company you choose, you may even save more than you paid for the course. Click here for the PASS PLUS web-site.

  • boost your confidence - if you feel nervous driving on your own, the PASS PLUS training can help you become more confident on the roads

  • give peace of mind to your loved ones

PASS PLUS consists of six practical modules which cover driving in town, in all weathers, on rural roads, at night, on dual carriageways and on motorways. You can take it at any time within the first 12 month of passing your test.

There is no test at the end of it – your driving will be continually assessed and you must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard:

achieved successfully reached the standard required for each of the competencies

exceeded exceeded the required standard for each of the competencies

In exceptional circumstances, if a module can't be done on the road it will be covered as a theory lesson. The highest level you can reach is 'achieved' as you will not have been able to demonstrate the relevant practical skills.
